Management and Information systems :- Lecture Reflection: We had a guest lecture after our easter break and the topic that we have discussed about is known as Sustainability & Business in the 21st Century. This topic although involves various topics and sub topics. Therefore it focuses on reduction of wastage of important resources and types of energy. The topic that had me thinking and really had an impact on me is reducing electricity and gas as during my childhood I saw how people wasted electricity when not in use and leaving the fans and lights in  home etc.I thought this topic is really interesting and how countries should actually start saving electricity and gas is really helpful. How lsbu is reducing its consumptioin in both these areas is also quite remarkable.Investing in new lighting, boilers and building systems and hence has reduced its total usage by 40% . Seema’s (s2@lsbu.ac.uk) Week 9 (EASTER VACATION)

Group work reflection: During the easter vacation we decided to have  a meeting and had a group discussion about where to shoot the video and the booking of the room in perry library. we discussed the points and the way the presentation has to be carried out in the video. Secondly we have discussed about the time management about how we should do a 20 minute video and the number of slides and the time that has to be taken be each and every member of the group. Hence to make sure each and everyone of us is equally responsible and work. Lastly, we had a decided the date the video could be recorded according the availability of the group members.

Management & Information systems: Lecture Reflection: This week , we've learnt about the business models in the digital world. The thing I thought that helped me and struck my mind is the 5 types of organizational strategies which are a)OLCL Strategy, FLC Strategy , BD Strategy , FD Strategy & BCP Strategy . I like how these strategies work for a company to gain more competitive and sustain the organization. This helped me gain more knowledge as in future I'd like to start a salon as a sole owner then these strategies would help me sustain in hard times and would always help stay organized and would help me keep low costs and always try out different ideas for my organization. Management and Information Systems : Lecture Reflection:                                      In the lecture this week we've studied about how to prepare and deliver a presentation. I woke up early this morning and was ready for my lecture. As Mr. Bilal was teaching us about things we were mostly familiar with the presentation and its tools and how to make it presentable but the topic that I felt it was more important is spellings/grammar. As nowadays organisations and business companies to communicate. It is very hard as well as it is important to make sure your emails / letters are well presented with any spelling or grammatical mistakes because the particular employee holds the business reputation. Management and Information systems Lecture Reflection:                            Today we've learnt about Cloud computing & Rational Databases. It was mainly focused on cloud and its function. I was pretty active as Mr. Haider always tries to keep the lecture fun and interesting with his personal experience which makes me more involved as it is easier for me because  I could relate to things and situations sometimes. A new thing that we've learnt is what a query is and how can we make none as I was already aware about creating reports and data etc but I wasn't really sure about a query. Management and Information systems: Lecture Reflection:    Today we've come across  IS Crimes, Security & Controls. We've learnt about the threats of the organisations which are:  more vulnerable to security disasters, Internal/External threats, fire, floods, hurricanes, etc. The different types of computer viruses was the most interesting which are viruses, worms, trojans and how hackers prevent the people of the organisation to get back on the data. Later on, we were told about Spam, captcha ,spim & phishing.After which we were aware of the different types of cyber threats: cyber-harassment, cyber-stalking , cyber-bullying etc. The different computer ethics were knowledgeable as well.   Management & Information  Systems: Lecture reflection:              Today we’ve learnt about enhancing business intelligence using ISs.We’ve learnt about its importance in a business to understand big data, the 7v’s and how it gives a firm different opportunities and threats which are wider choices for customers; short product life cycles; fierce competition; unstable markets & global threats. Organisations need continuous planning and ongoing adjustment and decision making.
